Stacked discounts never add up. Each reduction applies to what the previous one left, so 20% then 10% removes 20% of the price and then 10% of the remaining 80% — 28% in total. The shortfall grows as the discounts do: 50% + 50% is 75% off, never free.
Order matters when you mix types. A percentage followed by a fixed voucher leaves you paying less than a voucher followed by the same percentage, because the percentage bites a larger number first. Retailers almost always apply percentages before vouchers.
Tax is unaffected by the ordering — it is charged on whatever you actually pay, so it applies once, after every discount has landed.
